Subject: Re: Bridged amps

If your amp has a common ground for both chanels, you should be able to bridge it. All you would be doing is running a mono signal to both channels, inverting one channel's input phase 180 degrees, and in effect getting double the output voltage from L to R red output terminals. Don't use the grounded black terminals at all.

This will often more than double the power into a speaker load.

Don't try this unless you know your amp has the common ground and can take a 4ohm or less speaker load. On an 8ohm speaker, each channel will see 4ohms of the load as they are now in series.

John Pomann has an excellent DIY active $47 sub x-over kit that will invert one channel for bridging an average old stereo amp/reciever as well as many other great features.

Cya later,
Steve
