Subject: subwoofer volume control

I just had some used components put into my truck for FREE (this could be my issue, but i hope not) I have a 400w mtx amp powering a 10" subwoofer (cant remember the brand) either way, my problem is when i adjust the volume on my kenwood dvd deck only the front and back speakers are affected... There is no way that I can find to adjust the sub volume??? I can turn the volume to 0 yet my sub is still pounding in the back. Any help would be hugely appreciated.
