need sub box help |

i have a infinity ref 1262w 300rms
and i want to make a box for it i have the mdf and the felt and infinity tells me to make my box 2cubic feet and the vent 12.25" by 4" and my qustion is do i to make my vent go in to the box any distance i tryed useing another cite to caculate how deep the vent should be and it told me 5 1/2 feet witch is crazy and the vent size that infinity telles me to use just sounds to big
