port design has a page all to itself.
http://diysubwoofers.org/misc/portcal.htm

when the port is sized to meet your requirements, calculate the gross volume of the port and it's tube.
Add this volume to the box volume.
Now calculate the gross volume of the box interior and from there calculate the exterior dimensions.

Remember to allow for the volume taken up by the driver's physical shape/size.

A small diameter port is short and a large diameter port is very long.
If you try to calculate with too small a diameter port you may come up with a negative answer. We cannot make a negative length port. increase the diameter of the port until the answers come out positive and are longer than the thickness of the panel they/it pass through.

If you can't do this, then choose how you proceed. Either copy slavishly someone else's design or learn how to design speakers.
