I don't understand what Lex is on about.
Replacing two ports with a single port of the same total area results in the same tuning frequency if the length is kept the same.
But the volume of the box must also remain the same. A slot port is often much bigger in volume compared to a thin walled tube port. The slot port may require the box to be made a tiny bit larger.
