Hi,
I if you are building a sealed box you will get a more controled punchy bass but you will need volume to devepole energy. Sealed is more simple to design and build.
In ported box you can build smaller, but the bass will be more "woofy" and less controled and suits moore to home cinema aplicaiotns, there you can build smaller.
you can take a look here to get ideas.
sealed enclosure for music application.
