Good luck tuning a 9 litre box to 50 Hz with a decent-sized vent. A 2" ID one might do it, but I'd be tempted to use something bigger if I could.

I wouldn't bother with the complexity of a push/pull config - your back seat is likely going to do a better job of reducing distortion by filtering out higher frequencies :).

9 litres tuned to 40 Hz each looks interesting- you give up some mid-band efficiency for a bit better response at the low end - but then even a longer vent is required. (a 2" vent would need to be 15" long).

These drivers are apparently popular for use in tapped horns. Have you looked at those? Box size is of course a lot more than 9 litres each though...
