Subject: How to convert an powered subwoofer to a passive one

The amplifier that drives my powered subwoofer in damaged and cannot be repaired but the dual speaker and enclousure are in excellent condition. I would like to convert the subwoofer to a passive subwoofer. What do I need to convert it to a passive subwoofer. Could you point me in the right direction? Do I need internal or external crossovers? I have a power amplifier (300Watts) that I would like to use to drive the passive subwoofer (using speakerwire-high level signal)
Thank you for your help.
