Subwoofer blues |

I have a JBL Pro 12" powered subwoofer. An would like to know if i could take its driver an amp,just build a custom box for it.Its a vented box,I just think its a good amp an driver just not so good box design.It has a hollow sound.I have tryd everything to take the hollow sound out.I just don't have the money to buy a high end subwoofer kit,Would like to try to work with what i have for now. Thaks for any help.
