If the cabinet is in good condition, then I'd say go for it - might be a very interesting project. I suggest using one good tweeter instead of two, and use the money you save to buy better quality replacement drivers.
If you give some more details of the stock drivers, I might be able to give you some ideas for some replacements. Also, what size is the cabinet?
