Subject: Re: Installing an amp in a passive 10" Paradigm sb-100 sub

Ken,

The M & K VX-1250 SubWoofer Amplifier is a most suitable unit for
your application. I'm impressed. You will never be wanting for
headroom.

Note that the passive/fixed x/over, inside the sub, MUST be by-passed
to facilitate the variable/active x/over in the plate amp. If it's practical
to remove it, do so. It's no problem if that's not the case.

Behind the post plate, wires leave the post connectors, and connect to
the passive x/over. From the x/over, they extend and connect to the
speaker, thus completing the (power) signal path. As I have suggested,
connect the wires entering and leaving the now by-passed x/over.
Build your frame with 4" of clearance depth. Plug the output of the
plate amp into the post connectors, and mount the amp. The wiring
should be intuitive, but if not, I'd be happy to confirm what you see
when you get inside, via the post plate. The only potential problem I
foresee is insufficient access and maneuverability working through the
removed post plate. If this is not the case, or you can improvise, then
wire carefully and enjoy your active sub. Active systems (amps/x-
overs) are way cool, and once you go down that road, you NEVER go
back.
