i work for a movie theater as a projectionist and have some experience with gigantic subs so here is my advice

first the bigger box the more vibrations the bigger the boom

second its a very large sub so you want to give it room to move so i would make a ported box to allow air movement. All the subs in the auditoriums are ported in a 3 foot by 3 foot box made out of hard wood so they dont rattle apart.

All the joints inside the boxes are siliconed shut so no air escapes the massive pounding of the driver.

Your pushing A LOT of power to a sub so use thick wire to handle it.

so if i were you i would make a gigantic ported box with a big enough amp to push the sucker hard. All of the subs in the auditoriums have their own independent amps set on a very large audio rack along with the DTS reader and other misc crap
so before you try this sucker out i would open a window or two and take anything valuable off the walls just in case it rattles the entire house... if two 18 inch woofers can pound the hell out of a 400 seat auditorium yours should be able to tear the house or car apart.

Good luck

Shawn
