If I were you, I wouldn't spend more than $30 or $40 on an 8" sub (which rules out any JL sub). 8" subs have so little cone surface area compared to 12" subs or even 10"s. So I would either buy some mid range 8"s OR if you really want a lotta power, step it up to a 10" at least and then spend your money on a nicer sub.
www.sonicelctronics.com is a great site to look for sound equipment. Cheap and name brand.
By the way, I have 2 8" subs myself, jsut so you don't think I'm biased.
