Subject: Help with 12" or 15" down firing seal sub

I am planning to build a subwoofer. These are the preferred conditions:

1. It will be the base of a large coffee table.(reason - wife).
2. It will be the center of family room, ie in front of TV with it's home theater system.
3. Be a passive system as there aren't power outlet at the location.
4. prefer down firing.(reason - wife).
5. A large piece of marble will be the top so lots of weight (300+lbs??) again wife.
6. The main speakers don't have much under 180hz.
7. Thinking if a infinite baffle (IB) system as space is not a problem.

I need help with
1. Recommendation for driver(s)
2. Down firing so need distance between driver and floor.
3. enclosure volume for the recommended driver (still learning to use the excel calculation so appreciate help.

I would also like to know the pro & con of down firing.

Thanks a million for reading and helping,

Pete
