Considering most cheap computer subs use a 6.5" "subwoofer" or maybe an 8" and a cheap amplifier, I would go to the local PepBoys or Autuzone and buy the cheapest preboxed sub and amp kit they have. Our Pepboys have these combos for like $60 with a 10" sub, about what you would pay for an inverter.

Granted, this is a low quality system, but at least it's meant for car audio and not a kludge setup.
