Subject: What Will Sound Better 4 12" kicker comps or 2 15" kicker comps

Hello i am at a huge speaker decision. I had 3 10" mtx subs in the trunk and i was wanting to go with more bass. Plus i blew one of my speakers from my powerfull mtx 1000 watt rms 2ch mtx amp.

So i was wondering if i should get 4 12" kicker comps they have for sell at circuit city for 60$ a pair. Or go with 2 15" inch kicker comps that would be 100$ or more then 4 12 " kicker comps. Wich would sound louder and by how much would they sound louder.

Also should i put them in a box or should i have them free air speakers.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.
