Subject: Sub power range

I want to know if it is better to get a sub that the RMS is closer to what the amp is putting out or is it better to have it closer to the Peak output. ie amp is putting out 2300 watts at 1 ohm looking a two diiferent subs. One has RMS of 1000 watts and peak of 2000 watts other is RMS of 500 watts and peak of 1500 watts.
