Subject: Re: Passive Subwoofer connection

Hi,
I put together a 4th and 5th order bandpass with two
8 inch drivers in an isobaric configuration(thats face to face,(clam shell),it is also a passive subwoofer.
The way I have it hooked up is to the right speaker, (because the kind of music I listen to has the bass comming almost exclusively from that side),through a subwoofer crossover(18db).
It produces all the bass I can stand and it's been working for about a year with no problems.
There is an additional problem, your amp will be off balanced and can trigger the amps protective circuits if the amp is low powered or you play any amp louder than it can handle, you have to expect it to act erratically.
Only do this yourself if you understand the problem and you know if your passive sub has a crossover in the box and that the passive subwoofer is efficient, that is ,does not use much power.
Hope that helped,if not,get another passive sub for the other side.
