and i buy into djk's a karlson may be like a bandpass.
The karlsons seem to have a boosted 100-200 range giving lots of punch.
Hmmmmm........ Subs...... need that room shaking stuff ?
I've been thinking on bass horns, thinking midbass horn only. The sheer size of doing it right makes it an uphill battle. And i dont want to cheat on the length or the mouth area. I only figure on a 100hz horn but it would need to be 1/4 wavelength of a half an octave below the mouth area which would be big only floor loaded (90hz horn, 4.18' long driver to mouth, think 6.26ft2 mouth) even then needing a 15 that has a low qts to have a mass corner above 500hz is a tall order.
I also agree on the bass horn being a far throw device as i had a w-bin that wouldn't go low, but it presented the most believable drum kick that i've ever heard with domestic equipment. I still think of Foreighner's Juke box hero and can get shivers.
Also the ability of a bass horn to not have anything close, needing to be a wavelength away to get bass makes it an imposibility of in a room unless 25' away. I noticed the w-bin i had seemed to not be on right in front of it but was getting a pounding far into the room, down the hallway.
So in a nutshell, no, i gots no ideas.
Mom says hi to freddi, seems to enjoy his posts especially his pictures of pa response subs like yorkville that hit 100-150hz then have no bass, hense not a subwoofer. People seem to think the bass horns can be used individually when they are designed for a 4 pack or 8 pack.
