If you had +19dB over ported,then you have a very resonant system. Amazingly so,infact to the point where Id say you had a measurement error perhaps.
To me it isnt a port.A port with a flare radius is one thing,but an expanding column is another. Its a tiny horn.
Get HORNRESP by searching google.Imagine the systems as two seperate entitys - because you cant do both at once unless yuo want to program your own FEA.
Tune the driver on the box to some frequency by the port. Then tune the horn. Build it,and see if your tunings work out. Apparently they dont work so well if the horn cutoff is near the port tuning .
My poing is,the port will have little effect,the more effective the horn is.
