Getting back to the original opening line "these drivers really are for sealed enclosures", I would say that sealed is your bet.

Build that 4 cubic foot box, add 4 pounds (1800gms) of polyester fiberfill (pillow stuffing) and mount both drivers on the box, preferably on opposing sides to cancel vibrations. You won't get nearly level of deep bass as with the ported alignment, but it will be respectable driven with a 75W amp.

You'll be able to get over 94dB at 20HZ (100dB or more in-room) and your -3dB point is just below 40Hz (in the 3OHz range in-room).
