(Grins) My Bryston SP1 pre has an LFE limiter. Calibrate it with the built in test signal, turn it on, and then the Bryston won't let your sub clip. ;) The range is 0dB (full output) to -40dB. My CSW arguably clips at -40, while the Advents I'm using now clip at -37dB.
Heh, I can't imagine calibrating a sub that could handle 0dB output. The room shakes at -40.
Anyway, I don't have any plans to EQ the system (nor any gear for that purpose). It occurs to me that it may be a good idea... Everyone EQs their car, why not EQ for room response at home? Can you recomend any brands or models? How about information on calibration techniques? I'd hesitate to add to the signal path unless the gear was very transparent.
Have you heard anything about this SOS box?
Thanks for all the good thoughts. Ever more to consider.
Nick
