You're right about the slight difference in the parameters. And you're also right about the f3 points. The scanspeaks are less efficient but cut off a bit lower (a difference easily overcome with tailored EQ).

The DPL sealed have about the same f3, but will be moving quite a bit less at the same SPL over the scanspeak and the SW1084 due to the larger Sd. And at $150 for the DPL vs $380 for the Scanspeak, I don't see any reason to go for the lower displacement driver, especially since its exclusively for SUB use. The Scanspeak would be better suited as the bottom of a three way since it has an extended response well above 100Hz. But for low bass, 20-50Hz, you'd be hard pressed to do better than the DPL.

Room gain varies quite a bit with room dimensions. 30Hz is just a rough starting point. If your room is smaller, room gain kicks in at a higher freq. Cost not being a factor, I like the Scanspeaks as well since you do get the low f3 sealed, better than the SW1084. But with a little EQ, you'll get more SPL capacity from the SW1084 due to the larger displacement and still hit 30Hz easily.

The Scanspeaks will be well past xmax with 200W at 20Hz in a 2.5 cubic foot box, so be careful about overdriving them. At 30Hz, they'll be right at Xmax. With 200W, you'll hit 103dB at 30Hz with a pair of the 10's. With a pair of DPL and the same 200W, you have 107dB at 30Hz. That translates directly into better dynamic range for the dual 12's over the dual 10's from the same amp.
