Sub box question |

I'm building a custom sub box for my 1989 Camaro. This is my first box project. I am a very experienced woodworker with a fully equipped woodworking shop so I shouldn't have any major problems building the box. I will be using two JL Audio 10W3's in this box. I have read on several box building sites that you should line the inside of the box with a sound damping material such as polyfill or fiberglass before sealing it up. I have access to some matting that is very similar to the matting made for insulating auto panels (but without the foil layer). I think this padding will be ideal for my purpose. It looks like it's made from pieces of thread and thin fabric strands matted together and is approximately 1/4 inch thick. I have several questions I need answered if you guys don't mind.
1. Would this matting be suitable for lining my sub box? 2. How thick should it be? I'm considering two layers or 1/2 inch thick. 3. Should I just line the interior walls of the box or should I cover the interior braces too. 4. Will using this material change the interior measurements of the box acoustically? In other words should I make the box larger to allow for the volume taken up by the padding?
Thanks for your help.
Mike
