Hello!

What Kevin is talking about is phase relationships. Its a big topic, perhaps one of the largest in the world of loudspeakers, and also the one that brings up lots of different opinions.

With respect to placement - in freespace, theres no boundry interactions. But once we place it inside a room or vehicle, we have infinite phase relationships. But of course the crossover, baffle spacing, number of point sources, and the box are going to induce different phase relationships as well.
