Dual drivers vs Single |

As my next project I want to build a coffee table sub and I was planning to use 2 drivers to cancel the mechanical energy on the box. After turning 2 of my other subs on at the same time a getting a dramatic decrease in sound, I am worried about a 2 driver sub sounding worse than a single driver sub. My question is, will there be a cancellation effect by using 2 drivers facing opposite directions? If so, is there a way to avoid the cancellation effect while preserving the elimination of vibrations of the box?
