thin cable for really short distances arent so bad.. its when you start to push bigger amounts of power over longer distances.. its where you begin to lose quality.. i deal with car audio mainly and switching out the stock wiring usually 18 gauge to 16 14 or 12 shows a huge improvement.. as the signal doesnt travel through the speaker wire.. rather on the outside.. so bigger gauge gives a bigger surface area for the signal to follow..
