Hi Derek!

Well, we can, sorta. The 5" has a slight advantage in efficiency. But its important to realize what range of frequencies they will play too - a 10" driver is likely to be used for the subbass in a system, where a 5" driver is likely to be used for higher frequencies in the midrange area. So we are comparing two different ranges here, which makes things difficult. So if we compare them at a specific frequency - say 1KHz, the 10" is likely to perform badly this high as it enters breakup modes, and also its cone weight is likely to induce bad high frequency behaviour. So the 5" will perform better up here, and have higher sensitivity too. But if we wanted to reproduce 20Hz - then the 10" will be better in this area. Essentially, comparing a 5" and 10" by their sensitivity is not something that should be done. But if your building a multy-way system, then after selecting optimal bandwidth for each device, the sensitivity of each subsystem must also be matched.
