In my honest opinion, Not really. Unless the wire you have is too small of a guage to handle the electrical load, then the wires you are using should be just fine. The idea behind wires is to carry the electrical signal with as little power loss and noise gain as possible. (wire guage\material, and shielding respectively)
I've been using stranded electrical wire from home depot \ lows at about 50 cents a foot with no problems at all.
There was a technical report that was written that essentially disprooved many of the myths about highly expensive speaker wiring, but I dont remember where it was.
If this is a subwoofer that you are talking about, you will not notice a thing by upgrading the wire. (unless its a larger guage\better material) You may think it would sound better, but thats just your mind wanting to believe that it sounds better so that you dont feel like a dunce for paying a ton of money on somthing absolutely unnessicary.

So, get wire with decent shielding for less noise pickup, and a thick guage depending on the ammount of power you are going to push through it. (Oxygen free copper is probably the most common since it does not corrode when exposed to air)
