Hi Adrian,
i am also a newbie lost in this new and exciting realm of audio for the first time, my problem is somewhat similar to brian's, it is just that i have a "composite system" - i am running a yamaha dx-v596 receiver, and it has a hell of a lot of in and out rca's, amongst this lot is a subwoofer out, and according to the manual, they only mention a active subwoofer that can be connected to this rca, no mention is made of a passive subwoofer.
my question is this - can i now connect a passive subwoofer to this rca connection? or might this damage the subwoofer and receiver? or is there a way in which i can modify my passive sub into a active sub?
thanks
