Hi, first let me state i am a newcomer to the hi-fi scene and have no clue as to most of the discussions going on here.

however, i have recently purchased a yamaha rx-v596 av receiver, and am now looking for the correct speaker/subwoofer setup for this amp. my problem lies in the financial area in that i cannot afford to pay the prices that the dealers ask for brand name equipment ie KEF, Proton etc. i was therefor hoping to find some advice on how to construct a set of speakers with subwoofer for myself, out of components that i will be able to source.

not understanding half of what is mentioned here, i am also hoping that i might ask a few rather stoopid questions from the contributors to this forum.
