Hi B-Rad!

Theres plenty of possible combinations for a 1.6 cubic foot enclosure. And its easy to work out too, so you can make one of dimensions that suits you.

Working in inches, select a desired height, width and depth for your enclosure. Then multiply those togethor and you have your volume in cubic inches. Then to convert to cubic feet, just divide by 1728. And then for liters, multiply that number by 28. One example for a 1.6 cubic foot enclosure is:

H=16inch
W=13.5inch
D=13.5inch

Then, 16*13.5*13.5 = 2916 cubic inch

2916/1728 = 1.68ft^3 which is what you need. And 1.68*28 = 47L.

The driver is going to be taking up some of the volume in the enclosure, so you'll have a bit less than that. But you'll be using stuffing, so your "virtual" volume will be exactly what you need. I prefer fibreglass material for this which is the same thing used in Australian roofs as insulation (and probably other countries too), also its very cheap to buy and well-dampens midrange energy and other wavelength related problems. Acousta-stuff also works well, but it costs more too.

Adrian
