Well if it is a 15" sub, the 3.3 ft^3 box could possibly work.... I would go ahead and build a 4ft^3 box, and if it doesn't come out satisfactorially, you could always add wood to the inside....
In any case, what type of sub are you using, brand and model should work.
And really, what size, 12", 15" ???
As far as wiring a DVC sub check out this URL: http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/wiring/index.html#1dvcs Most home audio amps and recievers, will handle a min. of 8ohm load, which means the coild will probably have to be wired in series... The above tutorial page can give you all the details....
