Often the box is built to some ratio. For example 4:5:6 is a short squatty box that does not use a lot of wood for a given volume. basically box volume V=4y5y6y
solve for y by taking cube root of V then multipy y by 4 to get the length of the side and so on. Again this is inside dimension.
Off hand I can not think of any others, but you don't what to produce to much of a tower type box, possibly could produce a pipe effect.
