Subject: Hooking up active sub to sub pre-out w no filter |

Has anyone ever rigged up a DIY sub by using a normal amp, one without filters etc, to power the driver and simply hooking it (the amp) into the sub preout on a digital receiver? I'm specifically wondering what frequency the sub preouts on receivers go up to, as I don't want all that upper 100hz boom. My amp has no adjustable filters of its own by the way. I thought this would be a simple cost effective way of adding a monstrosity of a sub to my system. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Josh.
