Yeah, 3M Super 77 works well for keeping the broad surfaces of the carpet stuck to the box. However, you'll need to find a way to keep the carpet edges (seams) from peeling away from the box.

Before you begin carpeting, go to your local music shop and see how the bass guitar and PA cabinets are carpeted there. They usually have every seam covered with a plastic shield or tucked into a crevice in the cabinet. I didn't do that on my sub, and every time I move it I have to glue some of the carpet back on.
