Subject: Re: What exactly are you paying for in a name-brand amp?

he is right about that. you don't even want to put pyramid in the same sentence with jbl, fosgate, jl, mtx, etc.... when it comes to amps, like he said, NEVER go the cheap way out. you will be better off getting a 250 watt jl amp then you would if you got 1000watt pyr%*&d amp.( can't use it in the same sentence.haha... take the pyramid 1600 watt amp for example. it says 1600 watts right. but actually you are only getting 100 wattsx4 at 4 ohmsand only getting 150 wattsx4 at 2 ohms. so whats that 400 at 4 ohms and 600 at 2 ohms. as when you take the jl audio 300/2. you are fetting the full rated power. you are getting the full 150 wattsx2 at 1.5 to 4 ohms. now i could get that p word amp on cmttrading.com for only 132 dollars or i could spend $275 for the jl amp and be more satisfied so when it comes down to it the price for an amp is something that you really don't want to take into consideration. so basically what it all comes down with amps is that it is one of those "quality not quanity" things. good luck in your search and i hope that i couldv'e helped a lil bit.
