If you are going with pioneer... I'd get Pioneer Premier stuff.... as its SQ ability is nuts!!

Look at Kenwood and Sony head units as I have used both (currently using Sony MP-450X MP3 player) and they are always a great value for the money.

Personally, which is not always practical, I would not have used anything less than 5 1/4" speakers up front, but you are only dealing with 8" subs, so you should be ok. I would suggest a small 4 channel amp for your highs... however, if you plan to use the head units speaker outputs... I'd suggest a passive xo on your front speakers no lower than 120hz as I'm sure at high volumes they will start to distort from the bass....
