Interesting, it's a single 18 in the box; that's what UNIBOX models with the extension I'm after, but you may be right that it would like a smaller box, because I think the noise is the surround flubbing. (I also think these are Definitive Tech subs, and the box they put them in is needless to say smaller). Could also be clipping of course, although they sound fine on similar volumes of other material. Maybe I'll borrow my buddy's sub amp and eliminate that possibility.
