I'm not so sure that JL is a compromise of any kind... spl or otherwise. I personally have had great success with the w6 line of JL woofers... and would match them against any Audiobahn. If you can afford it, 3 JL 12w6's with the right amps, could put you around that 157 db mark... I don't think 3 aw12000's could really do it. Now for the money, I'm sure you could buy like 5 audiobahns for the price of the 3 JL's... in which case, you probably could beat the JL's...
Audiobahn isn't bad, bang for the buck, but JL subs have them beat.
