Of course it makes sense to dynamat the interior of your explorer. It makes more sense to do it than not to. You would place the dynamat really at any place that may receive vibration, or let in road noise. In an explorer, I would imagine the entire back, (cargo area), back doors, and back seat passenger area would all have to be done. Which is pretty easy if you buy bulk packs of dynamat extreme.
There are several companies out there that makes things such as dynamat for cheaper, but they are typically not as good, but are much cheaper.
