Make the plug v.rigid so that it does not distort in curing. As it's a speaker enclosure, I would personalloy batton the enclosure within the fiberglass, and use lots of mat to get it really thick and rigid. Spend time polishing the plug it will be worth it if you want a nice shiny gelcoat finish.
