A push/pull or isobarik configuration does NOT increase SPL. In fact it actually reduces efficiency up to 3 db. In turn for this type of configuration, you actually reduce by half the required box volume. The way they work is that you "clam-shell" the 2 drivers face to face (in most cases) and reverse the polarity on one of the speakers. This will make one go out while the other pulls in. These have been getting real popular in the car audio world as drivers become cheaper and space becomes more limited. You may just be better off with a decent sized sealed or even a bandpass design.
