Since you seem to be too lazy to go to the site I listed I will go there and cut and paste a paragraph for you "This amplifier, although very simple, is capable of superb performance. This is not an amp to be under estimated, as the sonics are very good indeed, and this is due (in part, at least) to the inherent simplicity of the design. The amp is exceptionally quiet, and is reasonably tolerant of difficult loads. It is an ideal amplifier for biamped systems, and may be operated in bridge mode (BTL) if the selected output transistors have the necessary power ratings (e.g. MJ21193/4) " As regards your choice of the PE mosfet amp A)lateral mos sound mushy and thick sounding for bass use B)they are about 6X the cost on a dollar per SOA watt basis at typical heatsink temperature C)that particular amp has severe design problems if you want to drive 2 ohms hard D)it is a complex and costly design D) I could go on for hours but I have better things to do. It is funny that you mention oscillations in the same post as Velleman. When Audio Amateur reviwed their mosfet kits they found they oscillated horribly. Your point about substitutions and oscillations is valid though.The ESP design looks to be over compensated a bit so the average kit builder shouldn't have any problems.People that don't own a wide band scope should use a broadcast band AM radio to check for oscillations.For subwoofer use just err on the side of caution, you don't need an amp with bandwidth into the broadcast band for your sub.
