Subject: Blown speaker? |
|
|
I have an MTX 400W 10" Thunderpro 2000 that I built the enclosure for back in 1996. I finally hooked it up to a crossover amp and got it working in December (had to wait for a good deal, right?).
When I drove my car last week, the speaker worked fine. I went on vacation and came back last Tuesday.
When I started up the car, no sound came out of the speaker. I thought my mom had driven the car and couldn't stand the bass... possibly disconnected it, but no! I checked the wires, sound came through a different test speaker (6x9 enclosed speaker), but nothing from the subwoofer. I opened the enclosure, and all the wires are intact. When I tap on the cone, I get a hollow "click" instead of a low "thump". Is the speaker blown? Is there any way I can fix this, or do I need to buy a new speaker?
If this is the case, and I can't fix this, is anyone willing to sell me a 10" subwoofer (I already have an enclosure)? Something that will work well with an Audiovox 200W amp. Thnx!
