Subject: You should do some research


regarding the absorption co-efficients of various materials.

Fiberglass has a lower absorption rate below 200-175Hz compared to the synthetics, polyfill, dacron etc.

The reason it's used, is that has has SOME absorption of bass, it's cheap, and it does a good job with the higher frequencies that end up in the sub as a result of the roll off rate of the XO.
