Subject: Isobaric is worst possible configuration for SPL

Isobaric is not a box design -- it's just a method of mounting two drivers in a box that's sealed, ported or a bandpass design.

An Isobaric configuration allows you to waste the output of one driver for the sole purpose of reducing enclosure size by 50%. Great for auto use.
But the same two drivers would have 3db more output without the Isobaric configuration -- but then the enclosure would be four times larger than the same two drivers used in the Isobaric configuration.

If you can't afford a Dayton 15" DVC, buy a second
Dayton Series II and use both at the same time.
Their total displacement should be almost the same
as one Dayton 15" DVC.

I have heard one subwoofer horn speaker in a private home. Actally it was outside on the lawn.
I thought it was some bizarre metal lawn
sculpture until the owner turned it on.
It was large enough to park a compact car in,
yet the cut-off frequency was in the 30-40Hz. range
(can't remember exactly). The owner had four
klipshorns in his surround sound system -- he was
a real horn nut!

You sound pretty smart and should win the contest.
Stuff old black socks into the ports of any ported speakers brought in by the competition if you want to be more confident of winning!
Of course that might makes some poorly designed
ported speakers sound better (a very old sealed-box speaker builder joke).
