Here's what I am thinking. Please correct me if I am wrong. The Head Unit has 2 Pre Outs. One Front (L&R) and one Rear (L&R). It does not have a sub out.
I fully understand the prinicpals of crossover networks, so no need to explain these concepts, but I am unsure as to exactly what an outboard crossover is? and where is it connected?
What sacrafices would I be making to use an outboard crossover vs. a head unit that had a sub pre-out. How much does an outboard crossover cost (range)?
My thought is that I should upgrade the head unit to a model with a sub pre-out, but I need to understand why? Nate - Thank you for your comments. Everyone else - Thank you in advance should you wish to add to what has already been said.
Chaos.
