I have\had a 8" powered Mission sub (70asa) that died. I took it to the local repair guy who told me the high pass filter is gone but more importantly there's a 'unit' S53AMI that after some googling definetly has some history of not living tgoo long. What can I do? I am completely new to diy speakers, and am familiar enough wiht computers and minor electronics. I've read I can get a replacement 'plate' amp - any suggestions? Thanks very much.

Check Parts Express (www.partsexpress.com) - they may have a plate amplifier that might fit where the one for your subwoofer now fits.

If you're familiar with minor electronics, replacing the amplifier should be a breeze.
