Subject: non powered subwoofer

I have an optimus pro sw12 non powered subwoofer in my stereo system. it just doesn't seem to make any appreciable bass even with the bass boost on. I can hear it if i put my ear to it but thats it. Its connnected to a sony strd865, correctly as far at the system directs, and all the connections are good.

I'm not familiar with that receiver. Is the receiver's subwoofer output a line-level output or a speaker-level output?

does your non powered bass speaker have outputs on it?

some require the full bandwidth speaker signal sent to them and they have a crossover that sends the mid and treble on to the satellites.
